Rice University Barbara & David Gibbs Recreation & Wellness Center

Rice University encourages a lifetime of health and wellness for the university’s students, faculty, and staff, promoting the physical, social, and emotional benefits of physical activity and wellness. To that end, the 100,000-square-foot Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center provides a wide array of programs and services to increase knowledge and provide opportunities for the development of healthy behavior patterns. The Center includes an outdoor recreation pool, 50-meter competition pool, outdoor basketball court, and racquetball and squash courts. There are also cardiovascular fitness and weight training areas, as well as a Wellness Center that includes spaces for consultation, education, massage therapy, and acupuncture. Indoor recreational facilities include a 2-court basketball gymnasium, multi-purpose gymnasium, dance facility, and locker rooms.
